Mission

Simply put, a love of Scotland and its traditions, coupled with an emerging passion for art, propelled the launch of what is today A Scottish Connection. With generosity in their heart, the two founders—Deborah Gilmour and Cristina L. Ciocca initiated a forum in which to debut the work of prominent Scottish and international artists. By presenting brilliant new artwork to the American culture in general, and to the culture of art collectors in particular, their undertaking would become a tangible extension of their profession as doctors of neuropsychology: the study of body and mind.

Their vision arose from a humble desire to coalesce Culture, Tradition and Art in unique worldly solidarity, traveling beyond the borders of our great nation. Reaching across the confines of time and geographical distance, A Scottish Connection embarked on a mission to transcend the typical and embrace the divergent part of the human psyche, particularly during this time of political and cultural unrest in the world. Through the promotion and exhibition of exquisite art, A Scottish Connection allows people from all walks of life to gather, if only briefly, to share their interest in art, a passion held in common, and to do so in the true spirit of Scottish hospitality. Such a shared experience becomes much more than a fleeting encounter, broadcasting across nations, bringing the acquired symbolic canvases into private collections, making a profound spiritual impression for years to come.

In time, the objective artistic crescendo evolved to include a profound obligation to envelop a return to basics through charitable donations. A Scottish Connection engages their artists to become joint benefactors, and they select worthy charitable causes to which the proceeds from auctioned art can be directed. By taking deliberate action for the benefit of others, A Scottish Connection and its founders hope to spark contagious compassion and a surfacing tolerance for the diversity of the human spirit.
